SUMMARY:\"Innocence Disolved\" Video Installation
DESCRIPTION:Please come join Wallspace for the opening of \"Vortex,\" 
 the gallery's second video installation featuring artist Natasa Prosen
 c Stearns.\"Vortex\" has had several different incarnations. It was or
 iginally created as a video of swirling terrestrial elements with a nu
 cleus, which pulls everything endlessly towards its dark center. As su
 ch it was premiered at the Venice Biennale and it will be shown as a n
 ight window projection at Wallspace gallery.The prints that accompany 
 this installation are created as mosaics viewable during daylight hour
 s. The images are assembled with 182 pieces, which converge in an inte
 ntionally imperfect way. This process creates movement, even in a stil
 l print. \"Vortex Mosaics\" were introduced to the public in Natasa's 
 exhibition at the Slovenian Embassy in Washington, and will be now sho
 wn for the first time in Los Angeles.Natasa is a Slovenian artist and 
 filmmaker based in Venice, California. She earned her BA at the Academ
 y of Fine Arts in Ljubijana, Slovenia where she began making video pie
 ces, gradually expanding her practice towards installations, films and
  prints. In 1997 Natasa travelled to Los Angeles on a Fulbright Grant 
 for her MFA in Film and Video at Cal Arts. She has represented Sloveni
 a in the 48th Venice Biennale and various international shows around t
 he world.The video installation will play every evening from dusk thro
 ugh the night until February 28th viewable from the sidewalk and withi
 n the gallery.The first Natasa’s video installation at Wallspace, \"
 Innocence Dissolved\", was presented last August 2012 and then repeate
 d as part of 10th year retrospective of Tarfest, curated by LACMA's Ho
